I have a U.S. history paper and need topic help?

I would like to do my paper on drugs during the 80's. I can do it on anything so I'm open to other suggestions. I have 2 main topics but need an argument or statement about them relative to the U.S.'s history. 1 is Pablo Escobar the cocaine drug lord of colombia with a lot of power and wealth who was very much hated by the United states government. At one time it was estimated 80% of the U.S. cocaine supply came from Escobar. Or something on Nicky Barnes known as Mr. Untouchable because he was so slick and sly with his Harlem heroin dealing. Any other suggestions feel free to say.
