In my previous job interview, the employer asked a Question related to purchase ledger.?

The question was, What would you do, if an supplier asks for payment on the due date and the company is not ready to make that payment. What would I reply the supplier and tell them that only after 6weeks the payment would be ready? Please someone help me with this question as I have another interview tomorrow with a different co.
