The book The Scarlet Letter?

Ugh! My mom is making me read the Scarlet Letter for summer reading (I'm home schooled). Is the book any good? I usually love reading but I read the first page and almost fell asleep because it was so stupid and boring. Does it get any better?? I'm so mad that I have to read it..
